JOIN COMMUNITY

Jesus’ first command to His Church in the Great Commission was to GO and make disciples of all nations.  As members of Restoration Church we commit to follow the call to GO to Clearwater and the world through personal evangelism and community outreach.

Jesus’ next command was to GO and baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  We believe baptism is celebration that though we deserve the judgment of God for our sin, we are raised to new life through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  We do not believe it is an act of salvation, but rather a response of obedience to what Christ has done in us. 

The final command from Jesus in the Great Commission is to teach them to observe everything he taught them.  We have the very breath of God in the words of the Bible.  As a members of Restoration Church we commit to communal expositional study & preaching.  Week in and week out we study the Bible in order to know the will of the Father and grow in compassion for one another.

In addition, we commit to declare the truth we learn to one another in teaching, preaching and prophetic utterance as the Spirit enables and directs us. 

At it’s core, TOGETHERNESS is about striving to do life together.  As members we commit to doing life together. This is primarily expressed in our community groups, which include the study of God’s Word, prayer for each other and service to one another.  Acts 2:44-45 says, “all who believed were together and had all things in common.  And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.”  

Doing life together means doing everything we can to help each other in times of need.  We believe this is accomplished best in the context of our community groups. 

Celebrating together means we corporately worship God for who He is and what He is doing.  We commit to regularly gather to worship through song.  We believe through our praises we declare Jesus is Lord of Lords and King of Kings to ourselves, each other and our city (Luke 19:38-40; Revelation 4:8-11).

We commit to regularly celebrate the Lord’s Supper.  This is the proclamation of Jesus’ death until he returns. This celebration declares Jesus body and blood on the cross has purified us, individually in reconciliation to the Father and corporately to one another.  

As individuals come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior, we commit to celebrate these decisions by proclaiming our identification with Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection through baptism. 

As members of one body, we commit to pray for each other immediately and continually. In every gathering we give opportunity to share things which can be prayed for and we pray for it then rather than only promising to do so later.

We believe corporate prayer builds up the body in our faith in Jesus Christ and our hope in Him.  We also believe praying during our church service is part of discerning the body ahead of taking the Lord’s Supper together. 

The needs in our city are significant and must be met with practical tangible actions.  Scripture speaks plainly to us in James 1:27, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” To visit means to demonstrate care for.  

We commit to caring for the afflicted in our midst.  Psalm 9:8 says, “the needy shall not always be forgotten, and the hope of the poor shall not perish forever.”  Jesus did not forget the needy and in Him we can bring hope to the poor.
