When we trust Jesus for salvation, we are immediately welcomed into relationship with our Father in Heaven.

Hebrew 4:16 says We can confidently "draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need."

And as Jesus puts it in the sermon on the mount, we can pray directly to the Father (Matthew 6:9-13). We use a HEXAGON to describe the new relationship with have with our Father in Heaven based on how Jesus encourages us to pray to God...

  1. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name - God is in Heaven. He is the Father our hearts long for. He is Holy, there is no sin in his presence. He is trust worthy and loving and kind.
  2. Your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven - When we come to the Father in prayer, we ask for His will to come to pass in our lives. We lay down our will and desires as Jesus did in going to the Cross and we ask that the Father's will be done on earth as in heaven.
  3. Give us this day our daily bread - We can trust that God will provide everything we need to face the day that is ahead
  4. And forgive our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors - We recognize in prayer that we need complete forgiveness from God and we extend that same level of forgiveness to those who have wronged us.
  5. And lead us not into temptation - We seek wisdom from God to avoid things that would tempt us into sin.
  6. But deliver us from evil - We pray for protection from the schemes of the enemy who actively seeks to discourage and deceive followers of Jesus.
